So you’re engagement has quickly flown by, and now the wedding day is approaching sooner than you can believe. Yes, it can get more overwhelming as you get closer, but I am going to give you five tricks of the trade on how to get wedding day-ready. After all, not only do you want to look beautiful, you want to feel beautiful, too. Nobody wants to see a bride pulling her hair out on the big day (though I always pack hair spray, I promise)!

1. Dance in comfort: Let’s be honest. The night of your wedding, you are going to party, but you will also be schmoozing around the room – A LOT. How will you be able to enjoy if your feet are aching and burning? Have your maid of honor bring a pair of comfortable wedges (high enough so you aren’t trampling over your dress) for you to change into later in the night. Feel free to get as quirky as you like. You won’t regret it!

2. Brief your photog: Pictures are key, and you want them to look fantastic. Sit down with your photographer before your wedding date, and put together a list of specific shots that you want him/her to take. This way, you can rest assured knowing that your floral arrangements, your great-grandmother and your brother doing his famous Elvis impersonation will all be included in your album.

3. Prepare for a perfect pout: Let me tell you, lip gloss will save your day! Pick out your favorite lip product and hand it to your coordinator the morning of your wedding. You will be doing a lot of kissing, be it with your new hubby or your guests, so apply often and you’ll always be picture perfect with beautiful, poppin’ lips (to quote singer Little Mama).

4. Make sure to eat: This is a cardinal rule for brides. We know. You’re nervous. But nerves will only be enhanced by an empty stomach. A light breakfast and/or lunch will settle your tummy and your nerves. There is a reason your grandmother always says a full stomach makes a happy heart!

5. Assign a keeper of checks: Lucky for you, a common wedding gift is money (woo hoo!). Don’t freak out the day of about who you are going to leave the checks with while you are away. Assign a point person (preferably not someone with a criminal record) and leave them deposit slips, so they can deposit the checks for you while you are off on your fabulous honeymoon.

I hope these tips (along with the support of an excellent coordinator — wink, wink) will help make you ready for the happiest day of your life. Want more of these? I’ve got a ton!
